The Beyer family has been an integral part of the wine business in Alsace, France since 1580. This family estate, with 19 hectares of vineyards on slopes rich in limestone and clay near Eguisheim, is currently under the management of Christian Beyer, who represents the 14th generation of producers. He has been managing the vineyard since 1997, and in that time has put a spotlight on strengths of the Alsace region, as highlighted in their Riesling, Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc bottlings. The minerality of the soil makes these dry white wines sing. They pair beautifully with food and are remarkably refreshing and drinkable.
Special note: We are thrilled to welcome this talented winemaker to Vine & Table on April 9th, when Christian Beyer will bring three wines with him to our tasting: the Pinot Blanc 2012, Pinot Gris 2012, and Riesling 2012. Take advantage of this opportunity to sample Christian Beyer’s wines and to meet this talented maker. Learn more about the wine event.
Emile Beyer, under the supervision of the dynamic Christian Beyer, is a producer that combines tradition and progressive environmentally friendly viticulture to create beautiful wines, and perfect for the spring table.
Emile Beyer Pinot Blanc 2012 – A charming, drinkable, crisp wine. Flavors of apple and pear are carefully balanced with a soft breadiness that adds complexity without dominating the fruit. Delicious and versatile.
Emile Beyer Pinot Gris 2012 – Full-bodied with a perceptible, but not cloying, sweetness. Lovely floral notes and palate-grabbing acidity. Excellent as an aperitif or with spicy Asian cuisine.
Emile Beyer Riesling 2012 – Dry and delicately fruity, with a refreshing lemony zestiness. Pairs beautifully with grilled fish and, with a nod to Riesling’s German heritage, sauerkraut.
