add “pasión” to your valentine’s day

This time of year I always try and come up with a new and creative cocktail for Valentine’s Day. This year I managed to come up with a few. The first, La Pasión Margarita, may not be your traditional Valentine cocktail but it will bring on the Pasión. The second is a more traditional chocolate flavored cocktail but definitely spiced up a bit.

La Pasion MargaritaLa Pasión Margarita
3 ounces Milagro Select Barrel Reserve Silver Tequila
2 ounces Finest Call Passion Fruit Purée
½ ounce Cointreau orange liqueur
½ ounce fresh lime juice
Lime-Sugar* for rimming
Wilks & Wilson Raspberry Gomme for garnish

Shake tequila, Passion Fruit Purée and lime juice with plenty of ice. Strain into a lime-sugar rimmed cocktail glass. Add a splash of the Raspberry Gomme Syrup.

*If you can’t find a commercial lime sugar you can make it by adding a teaspoon of lime zest to two tablespoons of sugar and combine. Plain sugar will work too.  This may not be your standard Valentine’s Day Cocktail but it IS delicious!

 For the cocktail:
1½ parts Crave Chocolate Chili Liqueur
1 part Premium Vodka
For the rim:
2 Tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon cocoa
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Mix the rim ingredients. Dip the rim into a puddle of the liqueur and then dip in the sugar.  Combine all cocktail ingredients in a shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously and strain into a chilled martini glass. Spicy and delicious!
